More Mondo Macabro DVDs

A source at Mondo Macabro gave Fango the early word on the horror and exploitation DVD fare the company has coming in 2006. Out January 31 is VIRGINS FROM HELL, an Indonesian opus combining the women-in-prison and biker genres with lots of mayhem as an all-female motorcycle gang battles nasty drug lords. This one will be a two-disc set, with the second DVD containing over 70 minutes of trailers from the movie’s production company, Rapi Films. Arriving February 28 is the world DVD premiere of 1977’s SATAN’S BLOOD (a.k.a. ESCALOFRIO and DON’T PANIC), directed by Carlos Puerto and executive-produced (and, reportedly, co-helmed) by PIECES’ Juan Piquer Simon. Angel Aranda and Sandra Alberti play a young couple on vacation who become trapped in a house jam-packed with occult and erotic goings-on; the disc will feature an uncut new transfer with deleted scenes and an interview with Satanic expert Gavin Baddley.

And coming March 28 is DON’T DELIVER US FROM EVIL, a 1971 French film banned in its home country and based on the same real-life case that inspired Peter Jackson’s HEAVENLY CREATURES. Writer/director Joel Sería’s movie follows a pair of Catholic schoolgirls who rebel against their strict upbringing and indulge in lesbianism, murder and more. This DVD will also be unedited and remastered, and include interviews with Sería and one of the stars as well as crime writer Paul Buck.
